| Return |

The Mycenaean Foundation, a non-profit organization with a fifty-year-long history of archaeological research at Mycenae, and the University of South Carolina (USC), a leading institution in global education with a top-ranked Honors College have joined forces to establish the American Center for Archaeology at Mycenae (A.C.A.M.). The Center is hosted in the impressive facilities of the Mycenaean Foundation at Mycenae, Greece, and offers a unique undergraduate study abroad program administered by USC and the MF, accredited by the USC (“school of record”), endorsed by the International University Alliance (IUA) and serving an academic consortium of American and European universities (affiliate institutions). This is an interdisciplinary program that focuses on archaeology and related disciplines, such as bioarchaeologygeoarchaeologygeophysicsgeologypaleoenvironmental studiesarchaeometrycultural heritage protection/managementclassical civilizationancient history, and ancient/modern Greek (all courses taught in English). This intensive study abroad program offers an unparalleled experience for students from all over the world to spend a semester in one of the most spectacular sites of ancient Greece, study and travel all over Greece, while doing hands-on archeological work and learning basic skills that will serve them regardless of major and career.

The American Center for Archaeology at Mycenae aspires to become a dynamic international platform for education and practical training, interdisciplinary faculty research, faculty-student research collaboration, cultural immersion of students in Greece, sponsorship for archaeological fieldwork, scholarly publications, and international conferences, and promotion of Greek-American collaboration.

The mission of the American Center for Archaeology at Mycenae is to promote an interdisciplinary study of the ancient Mediterranean world and encourage personal and academic growth of the students through a unique combination of practical archaeological experience, integrative education, cultural immersion, and an appreciation for international collaboration.
